ID Parcel and Mail Solutions had a successful ProMat 2025. We connected with a wide range of professionals in the fulfilment, manufacturing, and shipping carrier spaces that expressed interest in the value of automated parcel sorting systems, particularly affordable and modular systems that provide greater flexibility. More and more operations are discovering the key benefits of parcel automation that include reduced labor costs and increased parcel processing speed and accuracy, among others.

The show had very strong attendance, a positive sign for all attendees and exhibitors. All told, there were 52,000 attendees and 1,160 exhibitors that made up 659,000 square feet of exhibits on display. These numbers represent an increase over the 2023 show. In 2023 there were 1,051 exhibitors (a 10% increase) and 50,924 attendees.

These increased numbers are in line with industry statistics that point to continued growth in the parcel delivery market. According to The Business Research Company, the global parcel delivery market was forecasted to grow from $474 billion in 2024 to $502 billion in 2025 and reach $625.72 billion in 2029. These growth rates are being attributed to the continual adoption of ecommerce as a preferred consumer purchase method and the proliferation of ecommerce in other countries.

Sustainability is another trend currently driving ecommerce growth as carriers are implementing more sustainable shipping methods. Some include optimizing delivery routes to reduce carbon output, utilizing electric vehicles, and consolidating shipments.

One feature of the automated parcel sorting system stood out as a priority among visitors to our booth at ProMat. The machines capability to automatically sort parcels by carrier and service was a recurring theme. These professionals were interested in smaller sorting systems that could help them streamline their sorting operations at the end of order packing lines.

Sorting by carrier and service within some carriers is one of the key ways that automated parcel sorting systems help make the sorting process faster and more accurate. After package barcodes on shipping labels are scanned, the carrier and service level data and routing data are matched, and parcels are routed by carrier/service according to the software and logic-based rules built into the system. By sorting packages accurately, shippers have confirmation of the sorted parcels and the option of tracking packages to each container for the carrier and service. And errors, such as sorting to the wrong carrier, are greatly reduced.

All of the major carriers have increased their rates this year. As a result, organizations are exploring alternatives. Increasing the number of carriers that an operation utilizes can reduce shipping rates, but it can also lead to sorting inaccuracies during manual sorting. The more carriers that an organization has to juggle, the better the chance of error at the end of the line. Automating the process significantly decrease these errors.

It was great meeting so many new people at ProMat. We always enjoy learning about the needs of our potential customers and helping them discover how automated parcel sorting systems can result in true cost savings and faster, more efficiently sorting with far fewer errors. Many don’t realize the true return on investment that packet parcel sorting systems can deliver. We’re happy to have the opportunity to open the world of automation up to them.
